I love to TRAVEL – to experience, to grow, to feel alive. And I love to share STORIES about my travels.
I’m extremely blessed to visit new countries and many parts of the world. But I’ve learned that traveling doesn’t always have to include a list of countries I’ve visited or the number of miles logged. Traveling is more a state of mind, a way of seeing the world from traveler’s eyes every day, no matter where I may be living at the moment. It is a gift that is available to everyone.
I’ve learned that my richest traveling experiences are when I step outside myself to experience the unknown. When I break the pattern of habitual actions, repetitive thoughts or judgements, and dare to open to ideas that challenge me and ways of living different than those to which I’m accustomed. This can happen in another country, in silence when I’m completely alone, or when talking with a stranger in my home town. It can happen when you are at your job, trying a new restaurant or meeting new friends.
Day to day life often doesn’t feel like traveling because we don’t see it that way. But, every movement and every thought is a chance to be adventurous, to grow and to “travel.” With this frame of mind, we can explore both the physical world and we can explore our world within. Once this begins to blossom, we see the richness in our lives and realize we have amazing stories to tell.
You see, EVERYONE has a story to tell. It is the story of the life they live. You don’t have to travel to far off places to tell a good story. The best stories are those of courage, of overcoming conflict, of friendships and of love. Each day and every moment is a blank page on which we can write the story we want to tell for ourselves. There are infinite possibilities, we simply have to choose and then live that story. For me, I find my favorite stories are those that speak to, and from, my heart.
The following entries are just some of the stories of my life, of my attempt to be courageous and follow my heart at all costs. I’ve learned I have no other choice but to live my life this way. Some of these stories just happen to take place in other countries, but the travel tales come from the way I see the world in whatever I’m experiencing that creates the story in my mind.
This can happen anywhere, anytime and for any of us.
Blessings to you as you travel through this world and write the masterpiece of your life as you go! Choose wisely your path, traveling the one leading you closest to your heart.
